By far the nature lovers' favourite, the 6-7 hour hike

Tulcea - Brat Tulcea - canal 36 - canal Sireasa - canal Periteasca - by the lake "Nebunu" (strictly protected area) - canal Șontea - bend Candura - canal Șontea Noua - by the lake Pintilie - behind the lake Nebunu with exit at the point "Scaunele" - traditional lunch stop at the fishermen, along the canal bank - canal Periteasca - canal Periteasca - canal Sireasa - canal Nord Sireasa - along the lake "Cu Cotețe" - canal Trofilca - canal36 - Brat Tulcea - Tulcea.

It is an exploration of the Delta, between the Chilia and Sulina arms of the Danube. The chosen route gives an overview of the wealth of natural biodiversity bestowed on this corner of the country. The adventure starts in Tulcea and until we get used to the atmosphere of the old river (about 15-20 min) we enter the "natural" area, along the generously laid out Canal 36, which connects us with our neighbours in Ukraine, occasionally letting us see flocks of pelicans foraging for food in the hidden lakes to the left and right of the canal. Continuing on, along the Sireasa and Periteasca canals, we are introduced to veritable tunnels of willows and wild vines whose secrets only the birds know. Discreet and cautious, the wild cat can be seen, rarely, it is true, hunting in these mysterious places.
Entering the Șontea Canal, we can always capture with our cameras the white-tailed eagle, the "king" of these places, majestically watching over the whole area from high above.
Crossing the Nebunu lake (strictly protected area) we enter a wider area, the favourite place of the lilies, the moorhens and the great egrets.
A "bend" called Cot Candura introduces us to the Șontea Noua canal, an area rarely travelled by boats, with a wide variety of birds. On a hut we can see the headquarters of the "GVU party" ("the ever-wet throat"), a joke of the local fishermen.
But, after so much fresh air and beautiful impressions...., we stop for a delicious fish meal on the banks of the Șontea canal where we will savour roe, fish with potatoes and mujdei, fish soup, fried fish, țuica, wine and water. After a hearty meal, we take a siesta on the way home via the Sireasa de Nord area, the Trofilca canal and then on to Tulcea, settling our impressions after a day of fairytale
