The light works By exclusive reservation only. The food is cooked for you, not for a restaurant display. Call us, tell us when you're coming and how many you are, and we'll prepare your meal.
Menu:
Our menu changes with the seasons and what the water brings. There are two full menus – one fish, one meat – with starters, soup, a main course and dessert. It needs to be ordered in advance, as nothing is prepared in a hurry here.
What do you find on the table
Sturgeon — Fish soup soured with whey, the fishermen's dish from age to age. It is traditionally served with rusks flavoured with savoury, dried throughout the room in cloth bags.
Mushroom soup — Chicken dumplings, a recipe brought from the melting pot of cultures that defines Chilia Veche: Romanians, Lipovans, Ukrainians, each with their own taste.
Fish head in red sauce — Slow cooking, with patience, the way it's done in the Delta.
Stuffed pike — a festive dish, prepared according to the local recipe.
Pork roast „à la Chilia Veche" — for those who prefer meat, with accompaniments from our garden.

How do you get to us?
Chilia Veche is located at the end of the Chilia arm of the Danube, the penultimate stop on the Tulcea–Periprava route. The passenger journey takes between four and five hours from Tulcea — enough time to whet your appetite.
There is also the 70-kilometre unpaved road from Tulcea, travelled in two and a half hours, for those with suitable cars.

Welcome to the end of the good world
There are places where time is measured differently — by fishermen setting off before dawn, by the smell of fresh fish on the water, by stories told at the table late into the night. Chilia Veche is one of those places. And La Lucica is the table you sit at when you arrive.
We are a small, authentic local gastronomic point, somewhere on Grădinarilor Street, number 11. We are not a restaurant in the usual sense of the word. We are a kitchen with a story, where each dish comes from an inherited recipe, from a carefully chosen ingredient, and from a sincere love for this place on the edge of the Delta.
